Any reviews or comparisons out there? I have the edc, love it, but the axis is drawing me in. Also anybody have any photos of the two together? Thanks, Josh

I've got both knives (my BM mini-Griptilian is the drop-point model with thumbstud). They are approximately the same length. The BM has a wider handle and feels more secure in the hand; the EDC's handle is quite thin and more slippery. For my hands (small/medium sized) the BM is easier to open open-handed - the layout is just better. I actually don't open my EDC with one hand because it seems awkward.

If you get a 154CM EDC, this steel is, for practical purposes, equivalent to the BM's 440C.

I like the drop-point blade on the BM, and generally don't like recurves like the EDCs because I don't need any extra challenges for my mediocre sharpening skills. As far as cutting ability goes, I'd say these knives are both fine cutters and basically equivalent.

I like framelocks for their simplicity and strength, but I have several Axis-lock BMs and like these too. For ease of use (opening and unlocking), the Axis is a bit slicker.

These knives are actually equivalent in many ways. The biggest difference is probably appearance. The mini-Griptilian looks more "tactical", while the EDC looks pretty unthreatening.

I actually carry my EDC much more than my mini-Griptilian, but I have a full-size Griptilian (also a drop-point) that I carry every day. If I had to carry a small knife only, I'd probably choose the mini-Griptilian over the EDC, because of the better handle and the Axis lock.

The Griptilians are darned fine knives, but my nod goes to the EDC. I am, for some strange reason, inexorably drawn to the EDC. It is one of a handful of knives that I actually appreciate more and more as I use it. I’ve had many knives that seemed quite good at first, but lost their luster after a short time. The EDC glows more and more brightly every day. And heck, you can get an EDC in about a 143 different steel options.

Okay. The EDC is a bit small in grip for people who have hands as big as my head, but they should be carrying wooden clubs anyways. Pain in the butt cavemen.

i have the 154cm EDC and the full sized 550 griptilian with modified sheepsfoot. imo the EDC look more elegant due to it's steel skeletonized handles and the recurve blade i like very much both aestically and in it's usefullness. however i think the griptilian handle is much more grippy and stable. the edc handle is kinda small and i wouldn't trush stabbing with it. also i personally don't like thumbstubs too much so the oval hole on the griptilian would be my choice, and although framelocks are nice imho i don't think any lock beats the axis, it's much more smoother too

I own a 154CM EDC and several Griptilians (550, 551, 555, and 556S).
I like both the EDC and Grippy, but between, say, the 556S and the EDC, I might choose the 556S. I like the blade configuration of all the Grippy's better than the EDC, but the EDC is also a great cutter. I view the EDC as better as a gentleman's knife and the Grippys better as all-around work knives. Also, the Grippys are incredibly strong and smooth. You may end up getting both anyway.
