EDC? What should I choose?

OK fellow knife nuts I need your blade opinions!
I am fairly new to knife collecting but am already totally hooked and building up a nice little collection. I have a couple of mid sized folders: a BM 722 (really sweet!) and a Emerson CQC7 (also sweet!). These are great knives but a little large and tactical looking to carry as an EDC! The tanto blade especially seems to scare the sheeple!
So I am looking for an everyday knife (plus its an excuse to buy another knife). I work in a 'casual' dress office (jeans, khakis, polo shirts etc) so i don't want to go to a small dress knife, i would like a 'serious' that i can rely on but which is fairly discreet and not too threatening looking.
Current considerations are the Benchmade 705, Al Mar Hawk, CRKT Wasp or a Boker Walker Liner. See where I am heading? Any body got any suggestions/opinions I'm listenening.

This forum is totally cool - I feel like I'm home! I am fed up of people trashing knife/weapon nuts - in my experience they are intelligent, articulate and polite people and if I needed somebody to watch my back I know where I'd go.

PS Anyone out there in Texas know of any local knife/gun shows coming up in the summer???

Thanks in advance

A REKAT Pioneer II or Carnivor Cub would be a pretty good choice.

All are good choices. the Benchmade 705 is a little small for my taste though, If you like Benchmade, check out the 690 or the 940. Or even the 730 & 735 Ares.

Dr.,
Glad to have you here! I moght think about the Camillus EDC Darrel Ralph collaboration. 1SKS offers it in 154CM and it would perfectly fit the bill, as you have described it. The thin integral lock handle makes this knife a pleasure to carry. It also rides fairly deep in the pocket.
Good luck,
David

No bad suggestions so far. I particularly like the BM 940 in green, since colors seem less threatening to most people than black.

And on that note, take a look at the Kershaw Boa. The multi-colored version of it is about as non-threatening as you can get, but the blade, and action, are excellent for tactical use.

Microtech LCC is strong, smooooooth, and not too threatening looking. It's one of my very fave daily carries.

Glockman,

I was so excited about the pioneer II and the clip point was not available on the blowout sale at 1sks. Is there anywhere else that might be selling these as dirt cheap. The tanto is still left but is just not something I would probably want to have.

I think the BM705 is rock solid and an excellent choice, I've used one as my EDC for over a year and 90% of the people I work with are tree huggers. I've only had one comment about it.

I have a REKAT Pioneer II coming this week that may win the spot as my at work EDC though, we'll see.

Believe it or not, I don't have any problems carrying my M/A LCC either, most people think it really looks nice so they don't get nervous... unless they see the blade

Doc -- welcome to the forums. Love your handle! Don't come across the word nostrom very often any more.

A lot of fine suggestions have been made. I disagree only with the LCC. To me, tho I like it a lot, it looks quite aggressive.

I have to add to the recommendations for the REKAT Pioneer 2. It is not at all tactical looking, and is a bear for work. Strong as a wee ox. Unfortunately -- pricewise -- Mike Turber sold the last of his Boker Walkers, @ $50. That is a sweet looking little knife.

I am a big fan of the CRKT LUS, the larger one. Much less than you're apparently able to spend, but it has a couple things going for it. First, it has only a 3" blade. Yet, the handle fills the hand surprisingly well. Since virtually all the Zytel we see is black, the gray scales on the LUS don't even look like Zytel. Mine came super sharp. And last, it has the capability to fill a defense role if need be. Sharp point on the little bugger.

Happy choosing. It is so much fun!!

I carry a BM 940 in green quite a bit. I really like the Axis lock, and the reverse tanto blade shape is neat.

Get the BM 710, the big brother to the 705. You will NOT be disappointed. If small size is a priority, stick to the 705.
