Which FF with full grip and approximately 3-3.5" blade would get your vote for belt or pocket carry edc?
Not for hiking or camping or bushcraft, just an everyday jack of all trades fixed blade.

I suppose it depends on the kind of tasks you expect. A Bushboot fills that role quite admirably for me.

The esquire is a great knife, and much better suited for pocket carry. But I would not call it a "full grip" and it is a good bit shorter than the requested blade length. I think full grip + 3 inch blade limits the choices to:

Bushboot
Hiking buddy
EDKarda
and Bushraptor (a little long in the blade)

I'll second the Bushboot and Hiking buddy but for me I would prefer the esquire over the EDK unless the full handle is a must. Another nice one that fits the bill is the F2. I have examples of all but the Hiking Buddy and the one I EDC the most is my Esquire.

I can't comment on the EDC/EDCII but I have used a Bushboot and carry an EDKarda every day. Both of those are good to go for EDC use. The EDKarda's blade is a little under 3". The Bushcraft Karda has the same blade, but a longer handle. .

My EDKarda see's almost daily use. From cutting paper, packaging and card board to kitchen use. During the various fruit seasons, I use it a bunch as a paring knife, does great. Strawberries in the Spring, Apples in the Fall, Plums and Pears. Heck, I sometimes even use it to cut meat when I'm eating dinner.

For a full grip and 3-3.5" blade, I'd go with a Patch Knife first and Hiking Buddy second. I love the handle on the EDCII, but it is, and feels, a bit larger than those other two. The EDK is nice, but not as full a grip and not as much blade.

If what you are after is a smaller knife for hip carry and don't plan on pocketing it, I would suggest a KEBushie. It is very versatile mid size blade that will take just about anything you can throw at it.

I def do not have as much experience as the other guys, but here is my two cents....I have both a bushboot and a lonestar. Both great knives, but the lonestar has a clip point blade which I like a lot and looks real slick.

The Esquire (in Andy’s words) “is a small knife; smaller than a Hiking Buddy by a good bit. The blade is 2.75" long and the handle is 3.75" long with an overall length of 6.5".

Esquire not quite 3 inches but it's the largest knife I would pocket carry

Great thread. Made me want both. At heart I like the bigger blade but always find myself feeling odd when pull g that thing out in front of people (sheeple) in my area. The Esquire seems perfect.

I forgot the patch. I didn't list EDC II because it's handle is comparable in length to the Esquire. My hands are men's glove size medium, and it's handle feels small to me. I do agree with the others who say it is as large as you would want to pocket carry. I sometimes carry my 'boot that way, but only when I'm going to be exclusively standing. It just feels too big for sitting.

I suppose I threw my suggestions out there with the knowledge that your parameters were going to require belt carry, which you said you were ok with. I think all/any of Andy's knives at 4 inch and below COULD make a great EDC, depending on your context and preferences. I actually carry my Bushcrafter quite a bit on weekends or when I'm not expecting a lot of social interaction. But again, that's based on my preferences in my context. As always, YMMV.

Good luck on the hunt.

I feel comfort with 4-5" blades when I'm not at work or out in populated areas. I should've said that I wanted this for times other than those unless I were to iwb the knife. I'm liking all these suggestions especially the Patch, Bushboot, HB and Esquire.

I suppose I'll have to see what's in store on Friday and if I get lucky.

Hey newyork. Good to see you around again!

All the suggestions so far sound like good ones. Which makes the decision a tough one. Patch and Hiking Buddy are good choices in my mind. The Esquire is a bit smaller than those. Here's an old pic with some models that have been discussed for comparison if it's useful. The smaller ones are probably not what you're looking for, but they were in the shot so I included them.

EDCII, Bushboot, Bushraptor, Hiking Buddy, Patch, EDKarda, Esquire, 2 Finger Karda, Runt.
