Hi guys, I'm looking for a new Assisted Opening knife, started out with a chive, loved it, lost it): have the spyderco ambitious and dragonfly both I love but something about my assisted knife was my favorite. Considering possibly the cryo but hesitant about the weight considering I think the ambitious is pretty bulky and the cryo is only heavier. Also considering the scallion or leek. Open to any suggestions as well even though my budget is a measly $50 or lower. Thanks(:

The Cryo weighs more but, it is much thinner than the Ambitious. Also, check out the Cryo G10. The Leek and Scallion are both great choices and are well within your budget. Check out Kershawguy.com for good deals on both as well as a large blem section.

Kershaw Turbulence is a great buy as far as assisted flippers go. It's light, plenty of blade, flips like butter. Easily found for under $50.

For just a little more money you can get a Kershaw Knockout. Great knife for the money. Personally between the scallion and leek, I like the scallion better. They are both great knives and you will find the majority of people like the leek better.

Have you looked at the Kershaw Blur? Kershaw Guy has the red Snap-On version for $45. If you don't mind a tanto combo edge there are blems for less.

How much thinner would you say it is? Because I do love the ambitious but i find it a bit chunky which would be great if the cryo is a lot thinner. The only thing with a cryo is if it has any problems with non clip carry I would just throw it in my pocket, would it open accidentally since it has no lock like the chive, scallion etc?
Also I am a girl and I love the design of the cryo but I am small and worry someone my freak out if such a small person carried and flipped open that knife, I even had some complain about my chive! It's dumb yet makes me feel bad if I scare someone with it ha.

I would checkout Kershawguy.com and see what deals he has on the Leek and Scallion. Check the blems also.

It took a little searching but, the Google machine says that the Ambitious handle is .428" thick vs. .37" thick for the Cryo. More important though is that on a standard Cryo both sides are steel and slick, they will slide in an out of a pocket much easier than the Ambitious, clip or not. As far as scaring people personally I don't worry about it, ignorance is everywhere. The Leek and Scallion are both great choices. Neither is a hard use folder though. If the Dragonfly, Ambitious and Chive are the size you like a Blur is going to be way too big. The Blur is an awesome knife, I love my s30v version but, it is in a different class of knife than it sounds like you are looking for.

Here is a pretty good size comparison for ya. From top to bottom we have:
Kershaw Blur, Kershaw Skyline, Kershaw Echelon, Kershaw Leek x 3, Kershaw Scallion and Kershaw Chive.

The Leeks, Scallion and chive are all about the same thickness.
