What are your EDC in your NECK ?

pictures and shorts comments are welcome

Two questions :

1/ it seem to be inelegant to wear a lot of thing around neck, and even only one thing around the neck isn't nice. Many of my friends ( especially the girls ) told me this exact phrase : People who wear THOSES thing around their neck seem to be a kid ! . What do you think about it ?

2/ in the urban environment, may be we don't need to be equiped like Rambo ?

Thank you

I'll continue to be a kid then, with my Busse Assault Shaker around my neck. Besides, any knife that can comfortably be worn around your neck would hardly qualify itself for inclusion into the "Rambo" category.

I do at work. I find it easier to have a knife that way over your aporn, coat, ect. Otherwise, not able to reach my folder or fixed blade.

Most of my friends carry more than I do, change out like shoes. Female friends mostly carry serrated spydercos anyway.

I have a variety of neck knives, mostly from Newt Livesay. I frequently wear a neck knife outside my clothing.for easy access.

"EDC in my neck..", hmm, let's see: flesh, muscle, nerves, veins, arteries, ...the usual.

seriously though, i don't wear neck knives 'cause they annoy me by swinging around and sometimes getting around or in front of my shirt/sweater, while i reach for it, it miss, because it's somewhere else suddenly between my clothing..

clip-on folders and horizontal-carry fixed's for me only, but then again, I am of the sensitive type ;)

if you use your belt or pockets ? You can not reach your knife and tools in your pockets and belt ? What is your job ? I'm curious

My edc neck knife is and has been for as long as I have had it is a Camilus talonite mini-talon. This little knife gets used every day and the talonite blade seems to never stop cutting, even when it feels dull it just keeps on keepen on.
I also have the large talonite Talon but the Mini gets used a lot more because its ALWAYS there when I need it.

OT, but Benchmademan, which necker did you design for Chax? I've been thinking about getting one of their smaller neckers, but I'm not sure which one.

Sincerely,
Anthony

I've experimented with a bunch of different neck knives, but the one that has been my EDC for around a year is a Rob Simonich Bitteroot in Talonite. It's a minimalist knife, but it provides a good grip and it really cuts.

My main problem with the other knives I've tried has not been design issues, weight, or bulk. It's just that my skin is apparently very corrosive. I can generate rust spots on good stainless in a day or two. With Talonite I don't have to worry about keeping the knife wiped down and oiled every day. Not to mention that I think it cuts better than steel.

One of these days I'd love to get a HideAway Knife in Talonite, but so far Frontsight isn't producing any...

I do find that my necker gets at least as much use as my pocket folder. There just seem to be a lot of situations where it's easier to get at my neck sheath than my pocket.

This is an interesting thread, and ties into something I was thinking about recently. I seldom go anywhere without a pocketknife, but it is purely carried with intent as a tool. I do not put myself into situations in which self defense is a priority, but due to my schedule I do run safe trails in the evening or at night. Despite my own confidence in my abilities, I am aware that I am quite vulnerable in this situation, both to people and dogs. I am considering a neck knife to have should there ever be any need. I need a secure sheath as it must hold when I am running and doing other strenuous activity. I prefer a low profile and corrosion resistance, but I'm sure sweat will do a number on almost anything. I have seen the BM push knife and the Becker necker and like both, with the BM probably being thrown out as I believe it to be illegal in VA and not worth the trouble. Any recommendations are appreciated.

why you need a neck knife in the place of belt knife ?

I wear a Becker Necker under my uniform shirt. The cord is not visible and the knife is easily drawn from "between the buttons."

I've tested all of my folders but even at 4oz they cause my running shorts to sag, not to mention I find it to be annoying and uncomfortable. I already wear my keys around my neck under my shirt and find that to be much less irritating.

I carried an Emerson Lagriffe for quite awhile. Still do now and then but usually if I am only able to carry one knife. Now I typically carry a lil' loco, it rides a little higher then my lagriffe but without the neck chain. I like both of these alot and don't ever carry anything else around my neck.
