I am going through new knife withdrawls as I have not bought a new one yet this week. I am looking at getting a Buck Mayo Cutback PE, Gerber AR 3.00 PE, Keshaw Vapor PE, and possibly a Buck solo too if I get a cheaper knife. I already have most of the other knives they sell at Wal-Mart. Any suggestions?

Haven't bought a knife at Walmart for years.

Have you considered the classic Buck 110?

Get one on sale and send it in to be customized with a better blade steel, etc.

Not too bad of a deal, really.

Buck 110 is good, You might also want to look into the Kershaw Leek. The standard 440a Leek goes for about $40 and is available at Wally World, but I'd reccomend the g10 leek with s30v wich runs for about $80 and is definitely worth the money.

How about the Kershaw Storm II? A lot of knife for the money.

The Ka-Bar Dozier Folder series is good too for low cost knives.

I picked up a BM Pika a few weeks ago, also nice for a low cost knife.

But IMO the Storm II is the best buy....

I already own a couple of 110's, and I want a Storm but I can't find them locally with a PE and I don't like SE, same deal with the leek, and the Ka-Bar. I already have a Mini-Pika. I went to Wal-Mart today and got a Gerber AR 3.00, and a Vapor. I don't like to order things off of the internet, so I try to find them locally if possible. I will eventually get ,the Ka-Bar dozier, Leek, and a Storm. Do you like the Buck Mayo Cutback? How about the new Gators? Anyone tested the Gerber AR 3.00 with Black Teflon coated PE blade? How about the Cutback? The newer Vapors have thumb studs like the Storm now, they are still too pokey, but at $17 I can't complain. I really want a Mini-Grip with sheepfoot blade and spyder hole, but it will have to wait for now.

I agree... GO with the S30V if you can man, you wont be sad you did.

I'd probably get the Mayo cutback. IIRC , it has 440C steel. My son has used the AR 3.00 for a few years. It's ok if you like liner locks made of Aus 8. The Vapor is a decent framelock with a dull Aus 6A blade that just needs a good sharpening. It's one of the easiest steels to sharpen IMO. Good to practice on. The framelock is fairly solid. Some people won't buy a knife made in China though. Have fun. You'll like the mini grip when you finally get it BTW. Regards, Joe
