im looking to get a fixed blade for EDC and dont really have any ideas. all i have for EDC right now if folders. anyone have any ideas. something relatively small. 3-4" blade length something light.

check out some of the custom knife makers here on the site you'll be hard pressed to get quality like that from production makers.. and they're purdy :D

Sounds to me like an Esee3 or swamp rat rodent solution might be what you are looking for... Both have 3.5 inch blades, the solutions handle is more ergonomic but the 3's handle isn't uncomfortable by any means :) I've found them to be the perfect size for daily carry over the more popular small blades like izulas and other "neckers."

The custom section of the exchange is a great idea as well... Literally dozens of knives that meet those criteria at reasonable prices :)

Good luck

Nim Cub II fits the bill, its small 3.5" and light 3.2oz. Feels great in your hand and you won't be disappointed.

I've started EDC'ing a this David Farmer fixed blade and I really like it a lot. Pretty thin blade makes it a really great slicer.

Check out his site if you get a chance. His prices are very reasonable for a custom.

Check out Fiddleback Forge, Scott Grossman, Bark River, ML Knives, JK knives, ESEE and Becker.. many others have knives in that size range. More info on what you want, shape, duties, thickness, sheathing? Any other info?

I recently started EDC'ing small FBs. I've found that a 2.5" - 3" is all I need for just about everything I do daily. I have a BRK mini-Fox River and a BHK small Cascade, as well as an Izzy 1. The Izzy is mostly ignored now in favor of the Cascade. That's a really sweet little FB. I'm still working on finding a decent sheath for it. The standard 'modern classic" that KSF ships with it is not to my taste, but the knife is definitely a keeper. I'll work something out for the sheath.

The mini-FR is very nice, like all of Mike's knives that I've owned, but it's a bit thicker blade stock than the Cascade and doesn't work quite as well as a dedicated slicer. Since that's mostly what I do at the warehouse and around the home place, the Cascade works a bit better in those areas.

If you look at A G Russell's site, he has a couple of Keith Murr small FBs that I've been eyeing. They look like they'd be very nice EDC blades.

Here's your answer.

I've picked up fixed blades from Coolhandluke4, PML Knives, and Bailey Knives (You have to special order one or just be lucky to get one of Matt Bailey's), all great knives from great guys, all with there own style.

Here's a small EDC with a 3" blade form PLM.

and the 4" Spearpoint that I picked up before that....

ElectrikHellfire, could you tell us more about that Farmer fixed blade? Which model, wood, etc. Also, is that Saddleback's "Medium Bifold"? Really cool stuff there.
