I have been wanting an Andy knife (besides my 12" machete) really bad and always miss them. I see an EDC at an online dealer that looks great. Black burlap with natural canvas, salted with scandi. Should I get her or wait it out for convex?

That may depend on how much you like a scandi grind. Have you ever had one before? Do you like it? Same is true for a convex. Have you had a convex before? How are your sharpening skills? Would one grind be easier than the other? And, of course, what do you plan to do with it? If it is an edc you are looking at, what daily tasks would you need it to perform?

I have a bunch of Bark River convex ground knives and they are easiest for me to sharpen. I have a Koster with a scandi grind I have sharpened once without issue. Opening boxes, whittling, etc.

I edc a scandi Hiking Buddy now and it's great, hasn't let me down and has done everything I've ever asked of it. That said I am going to get a saber/convex one later because I like the convex grind on a couple of other Fiddlebacks a little better for some applications like making notches in hearths for bow drills. However...with that said...I have made complete bow drill sets with the hiking buddy. I don't have any issues sharpening a scandi.

I will wait then. I'm really wanting a bunch of your knives Andy especially a Bushfinger but keep seeing them for sale too late. The EDC really interests me as a carry knife in my back pocket at work. I'll keep my eyes open for a convex one and a Bushfinger.

Do folks use a flat stone to sharpen a scandi? Anyone ever try to lay the grind flat against a "stick" system like a Spyderco Sharpmaster?

I have several scandis and have sharpened them all. And yes, I use a flat stone. I have a Smiths 3 stone set (coarse, medium, fine) and it works great, followed up with a strop. As far as I am concerned, the scandi grind is the easiest to sharpen. The bevel is so big, you'd have to be drunk to mess it up!
