EDCing Satin

My go to is a satin MS Ergo, originally got one for my wife and myself for hiking, but then got two more as I really liked them. Haven't skinned game but stripped some half inch thick bark off fire wood and also made some fuzz as I didn't have any kindling.

I EDC a satin game warden, its scuffed and scratched but I bought it like that and I think they add character. I haven't skinned any thing with with but I have cleaned up a turkey carcass for table scraps and it performed well. I love CG but have had a few coatings that would "rub off" (most notably a desert camo 311) and strip all my users that see any food prep use

EDC a satin SAR3 modded by the CS, and my go-to hard use blade is a satin CS NMSFNO (which recently had a brutal encounter with a hidden nail in a tree...:(

If you don't use it, why have it?

My satin SOB gets used as a hunting knife. It stayed nice as long as I scrubbed it in the same direction as the sanding marks. One night I left it out to cut up limes at the bar we had set up in camp. A buddy did me a "favor" and washed it for me. Unfortunately he ran the green scratchy side of a sponge over the blade in all sorts of different directions so it's not as pretty as it used to be. One day I'll get out the wet sand paper and straighten it back up but until then it's kinda nice to just use it and not worry about it.

much rather edc satin than anything coated/painted. I'm too damn ocd, a bare blade can be touched up easy enough either buffed or scotch brighted .

I dont think id use coated blade for food prep. Heres my most used BIG/Satin NMFSH, suprizingly it stayed nice and satin for a while, even after a bunch of trips, and chopping/batoning. Ofcourse with Safe queens it seems like U look at them wrong and they get scratched up lol

I'll EDC my Mini Mean Street when I get it. I'll keep it clean just in I need it for any food prep and I'll have my Swamp Warden or HRLM around for anything else. My HRLM is usually in the truck...

If you EDC anything, it will get scratched up. With a coating, you can't unscratch it unless you strip it.

With satin, you can.

^ this --- keep in mind, Satin is ideal for food prep and it cleans easily. When it gets scratched up, it's relatively easy to give it a personal spa treatment
