EDC's

Kershaw Chill is one of my personal favorites under $50. TheCajunBlaze makes a pretty good video of pretty good edc's under $50 on Youtube.

welcome to bladeforums, keep an eye out on the exchange. You will often find good user knives for under $35.

I'd go with a ka-bar Dozier folding hunter there very lightweight, ergonomic, and have decent blade steel (aus-8 ).

i would agree with whetrock, but i also recommend the Kershaw Oso Sweet, a friend of mine just got one, and it is oso sweet!

The well-regarded Spyderco Tenacious is available for under $35 shipped. Full flat grind, G10 scales, well made. If you aren't sure what to get, buy a Tenacious. It has smaller and larger siblings in that price range as well. But the Tenacious gets the most love. Link.

Check with Kershaw Guy to see if he still has any Kershaw Whirlwind. For the price, I really like that blade.

Kershaw Skyline - lightweight, scary sharp out of the box, versatile blade shape and the flipper is addictive.

Spyderco Tenacious.

And holy crap I haven't been paying attention I didn't realize there was a larger option in the lineup now. And a fourth something. Interesting...

Kershaw skyline or chill. I have a skyline and love it, and the chill gets a lot of love here on the forums.

Ka-Bar Dozier. I've got the mini and really like it. Small, but very capable with a thumbstud that works well.

Anything from the Byrd line by Spyderco will do you well. The FRN Handled Cara Cara 2 is my current EDC, with a 3 3/4 inch blade...but if you like something smaller, the Meadowlark 2 will accomodate you nicely. Both lockbacks, both under $20 depending on where you shop. If you want something a tad fancier, look into the Stainless Steel or G-10 handled versions of those blades. They can be had for around $25.

Also to consider if you don't mind non-locking blades are any number of Swiss Army knives by Victorinox or Wenger. Just pick the size and toolset you like, and you're set. Some very nice ones like the Climber, Hiker, and Tinker can be had for under $30. I also EDC a Sportsman II, which cost me $12 from Amazon. Blade, can opener, cap lifter, screwdrivers, nail file, awl and cork screw. I find that between the Cara Cara and this SAK, there are really no tasks I can't handle.

^Also a good choice. I think I paid $8 for mine. I even found a site that offers engraving...got a friend a No. 7 with carbon steel so it patinas, and his name engraved on it for like..$18 shipped.
