First off, hi everyone, I'm new to the forum and have read every post while waiting for my account to activate. I think I am in the right place though definitely in the minority as a woman. :)

I am not a knife knutt or collector (yet) but I do appreciate a good tool that does the job and I am happy to say I have 3 Bucks that epitomize that description. (103C, 123 backwardC, and a 422X)

I would like to send all 3 in for Edge 2000 treatment but I am not quite clear on the cost and where to send them. It is 5.00 a blade, right?? Is a check OK or do I need to get a money order?

The damaged blade part of my post title is because my 103 has a slight "wave" in the blade about 1.5" up from the guard. I broke my thumb on the way into deer camp the first year I had my 103 and while I was able to get a nice doe, I got my 103 stuck opening the chest cavity and being one-handed, I somehow wrenched it and put that little curve in the blade. I don't know if it will be possible to re-edge the knife with that flaw in it. Any guess? I think it was my fault so I am willing to pay for repair if it isn't too expensive, though I was a bit dissappointed that the blade was that soft. Heck, I am no zena princess warrior ;)

I love that 103 like no other knife. I think it was made for my hand. While knives kind of scare me in general, this one is so much a part of me that I feel safer holding it than without it. :) Heck I tell everyone I hunt with to come get me so I can help them field-dress their deer just so I can use it. :D It's dressed and butchered a dozen deer in the 5+ years I have had it. I may never buy another hunting knife, even though that Vanguard sure looks sweet.

Any help and/or advice you can offer would be greatly appreciated!

thanks,

Crystal

Zena, if Joe Houser doesnt pop up in the next day or so,he'd be the person to e mail.Dont forget to join the Buck collectors club. And yes, definatly get a vangard, i have one i got from Dennis Wright with a 'Frenchwood ' green handle and bg-42 steel. He may still have another one left.:)
take care, guy

Crystal,
This is Joe Houser "Popping up". :)
I would recommend sending them all in and we will see what we can do. The 103 is most likely covered under warrantee. The others will be $5.00 each for the edge 2000 upgrade and refurbishing. Check or money order is fine. You can send them to my attention at:
Joe Houser
1900 Weld Blvd.
El Cajon, Ca. 92020

Take care,

Thanks, Joe! I'll be sending them on Monday.

Guy, how is it that you join the BCC? I looked on the website but didn't see any information on joining, just a cool backgrounder. (zena, LOL, in my dreams! ;))

I cant find the application either. May have been an oversite on the new website. Here again Joe would have the answer, or another member who has better equipment than I. I know it is 20$ a year or 100$ for a lifetime membership. There is a page on the site describing the benefits. But no link to the application.:(
sorry i couldnt do more.
guy

Crystal,
Email me your snail mail address and I will send you a BCC application plus some other info you will find of interest.

Crystal, don't fail to send your knives in for the Edge 2000 treatment. I pride myself on sharpening, and my Nighthawk was sharp by my standards, but I sent it to Joe anyhow. The changed angle made a difference that I thought would be impossible. Plus, you get to deal with a great guy (Joe) and a class outfit (Buck Knives). God Bless! Jim:D :D

They're Baaaack!

Just a matter of a couple weeks since I sent in my bucks for E2K and to have my skinner looked at due to a dented blade. They came back today totally sharp (scary sharp) and my skinner is once again back to new condition!

Thanks to Joe and Buck, you have a customer for life. Great customer service like deserves to be rewarded!

Crystal,
I am glad to hear that that knives made it back to you. You should be able to skin out a few hundred more deer with that 103!
Thank you for the kind comments!

Take care,
