Edge angle on a splitting wedge

Found an old splitting wedge, rusted and not much of an edge to it. Going to try to make it usable. It's Chinese steel, so it will be good to practice on. What angle is the edge usually on a wedge? The only info I could find was 45*, but that seems too severe.

Personally I make it a blended convex like an axe. I'd estimate about 15° per side with the edge shoulder knocked off and rounded in. Blasts through wood compared to a normal off-the-shelf geometry.

I'd guess that somewhere in the general ballpark of 30 degrees would be a good place to start.

The good news is that the metal is soft and wedges are plentiful so it's a good item to experiment with.
