Sounds like infi is the all-around abuse steel for a blade.If you are going to abuse a blade. There is a thread over on Emerson about blades chipping out. So infi will bend if abused but not chip out. That's pretty amazing.I might have to get one. Don't ask me where I've been, Oinkers!!

I have hit a few retaining walls in my time and nothin' but rolls. Sharpened right out. No chips yet. :)

I used my BATAC for some straight up angled scraping on my fire steel. It threw some huge sparks. Much better than the tool that came with the steel. It did a slight roll on the blade but it came right back with a few licks on the Edge pro.

ROLLS

:eek::yawn::thumbup:

Am I a bad person for liking chips more than rolls? :confused:

Sorry, but I have to absolutely disagree here. A hot roll with butter, there is nothing better on this planet except that with a huge steak and eggs, and a nice bottle of cabernet:thumbup:

aaw... and REAL grits... I haven't had such a thing in a decade....

Yeh, and hard to slop gravy with a chip....

Hmm, steak, eggs, and cabernet.... :thumbup::cool:

Wonder if Waffle house has a wine list...???

But yes lycosa, INFI will tend to roll before chipping, even at 58-60 Rockwell....

I've got a (well) used Battle Rat with a chip. Considering what the previous owner used it for, it's a badge of honor to chip it. I call it a single serration. ;) Other than that, I've tossed two SH's (FSH and a SHSHII) at a log and had them get dinged by rocks in the ground. They steel right out no problem.

I feel for you, bro. A few of my friends, Kim, and I meet for breakfast every Tuesday morning at a little hole-in-the-wall place in Argo, Al., where they have perfected the art of making grits. The thick kind you eat with a fork, not that runny stuff you get at chain places like Cracker Barrel.

Don't ask how this happened the the EURO4 but the battle rat won..
