Edge geometry difference between Fallkniven S1,F1 and A1?

I'm going to buy one of these soon but am interested in the difference in the edge geometry between them. I prefer the S1 or A1 just because of the size but I usually prefer a thinner edge profile in any blade. Is there any difference in cutting ability because of the edge profile or thickness between the three? Will one excell at making fuzz sticks in hard wood?

I have all of em.
F1 and S1 same thickness I think. F1's edge is a bit thick stock, but thinned out a bit really shines.

A1 = THICK - and awesome. Really excels anywhere you need a longer blade.

I used to think the S1's length was worth it, but after years of use, I am back to the F1 with a thinned edge.

So overall I think the S1 and A1 have nice factory edges out of the box. F1 is a bit thicker of an edge for my liking out of the box.

With enough practice you can make great fuzzies with a Delica or a Junglas. So for me it's really field time with the tool.

Thanks.I do like thin edges.I make all my edges as this as reasonable for the intended purpose but I need a stainless blade and don't really want to fool with grinding one and sending it out to heat treat.

Are you saying that the F1 has a thicker edge than the S1 and A1 or just thicker than necessary on such a small blade not intended as a chopper?

i have an S1 and i find the spine to be a touch on the chunky side.

iirc: the F1 is the same thickness, but an inch shorter. i assume the edge geometry is pretty similar.

it comes down to your intended usage i would imagine. all three could easily baton their way through wood almost as thick as the blade is long.

I don't own either the A1 or S1 so I'm not in a position to comment on the differences between the three, other than the thickness of the blades (as listed on the Fallkniven website)

A1 is 6mm thick
S1 is 5mm thick
F1 is 4.5mm thick

Kind regards
Mick

I've noticed some variability in the edge thickness of the A1. I had a few of them. They were all what I would describe as thick. I prefer the S1 and the one I have has a thinner edge. For a big, tough blade I'd go with the A2.

The S1 and A1 are convex edge but they are a sabre grind type blade as well as being made from a bit thicker stock than the F1.

The F1 is a full height convex grind.

All three come blazing sharp and cut like the dickens.

My only reccomendation between the three is to get the satin version with the leather sheath.
