My neighbors want to know which to buy. They don't want to bother w/ freehanding. I never used either, so I'll let the lot of you vote.

What do they want to do?

Rebevel? Touchup? Just kitchen knives? Lawnmower blades? Ice skates? Barber's scissors? Straight razors? Chainsaws? Buzzsaws? Jigsaws?

More information required.

I'm guessing kitchen, filet, & maybe pocketknives. I was at their house for dinner, & used my pocketknife since there "steak-knife" was duller than Paris Hilton is smart.

Wait a sec... are you talking about the electric "Chef's Choice" sharpeners, or the manual Edge Pro? The model numbers look like Chef's Choice. If that's the case, I can't help you as I know jack-all about electric sharpening. On the other hand, if you want to buy them something easy to use and effective, take a peek at the Spyderco Sharpmaker. Works fine for maintaining edges.

They want to buy it for themselves. I did 1 knife for free for them (a 12" Chef's by Wusthof) they were so impressed they want to have sharp stuff to. I can't believe folks buy good knives & never keep them sharp. The wife said the knife was ~5 years old & NEVER once sharpened. Not even sent away to a pro.
