edge pro and larger knives question

I have a KME that I have used for some time and am very happy with. I have a chance to buy a used edge pro apex and am considering it as it seems I may be able to do larger kitchen knives more efficiently then on my KME. Looking for input from edge pro users or anyone that has used KME and edge pro.

Thanks
Cosmo

Only an EdgePro Professional user. I like the ability to move the blade where I want it without having to deal with a clamp. What specifically are you looking for?

I am thinking that the edge pro will allow me to sharpen large and very large kitchen knives quicker than on my KME. Like you mentioned, the ability to move the blade and not use a clamp seems to allow this system to do larger and longer knives,as compared to the KME.

I think you're correct in your thinking.. my .02, if it's a good deal, grab it. You'll find it a nice addition to your setup. (Might even replace it). ;)

I find sharpening my 12" carver to be pretty easy on my Edge Pro Apex. I epoxied a magnet to the underside to help hold the blade in place, and it makes a world of difference.

I have both. I had the Edge Pro first and I love it. I just wanted to try something different. I like the KME and use it quite a bit also. The Edge Pro is much easier to use for larger knives.

Hi Cosmo,

If you can find that Edgo Pro apex for a good price, then go for it. They are nice systems albeit a bit overpriced so if you can get one for a good deal then go for it. You will probably want to upgrade it as you go along to be able to have it work better.

I designed some free 3D printable upgrades for it including a Large Blade attachment - just what you are interested in. Link here for you -
