hello guys I have a question.I have been shying away from reprofiling my eskabar be cause I have a question.I would like a 20 degree per side 40 total edge but my question is if I set it to 20 per side with out the blade resting on the stone will the angle change when i present the blade?

sorry if this is very clear quick post.

The only way the angle will change is if you fail to hold the knife in the exact same position, or if you do not tighten the screw that holds the angle cube. If you do not have much experience with the Edge Pro, grab an ugly knife out of the kitchen and reprofile it, see what the edge will look like at the desired angle.

Go to YouTube and type stop collar in the search box. There is an interesting vid by madrookie about using a stop collar and angle cube with the EP.

+1 to the above...
What madrookie shows is that you must have the stone mounted and the blade in position on the EP before using the cube to get a reading. I usually put the knife on the EP and adjust the table mount (the part that you place the spine of the knife against), turn the cube on, zero it on the EP 'table', lay the blade on the EP, lay the stone on the blade, then switch hands and...using one hand to hole the blade flat on the table with the stone lying on it, use the other to take a reading of the angle the stone arm is resting at....hmm, the video shows it better than I can explain it. Slow down, think about it, and you'll be fine...but you really should consider perfecting techniques on chep blades first.
