While the edge pro stones do go finer do go finer than the chosera stones. I like the choseras better. Much less finniky than the polish tapes the ep uses to pass the choseras. In all honesty you are better off with the choseras. They cut faster. Load Less. And last much longer than the stock EP ones. But i would.buy them from ken schwartz as he cuts them.much thicker than the ones sold at CKTG. Little more expensive but more economical long term.

It looks like the Edge pro stones get much finer than the chosera stones according to this chart:

Scroll down a little

Even though the edge pro stones are finer the chosera stones sell for more so im confused. can anyone offer some advice that have used both sets?
The two i'm talking about:

I just bought the standard Apex 4 and am interested in getting the Chosera stones as well at some point. Stone for stone, the Chosera's actually do get finer than the Edge Pro stock ones; The 10,000 grit Chosera is finer than the 1,000 grit EP stone, but the EP polishing tapes (which are the 2000, 3000, and 6000 you see listed) are much, much finer than either. The polishing tapes aren't stones per say, and you have to replace them frequently with use. That being said, the polishing tapes get down to 1 micron which would require a pretty insane waterstone to reach that level.

From what I have been reading, people do think quite highly of the Chosera stones, and claim that they cut faster.

Thanks. I can not go all out at once. I will buy the apex 4 kit and when the time comes that i need to replace the stones, i will buy chosera stones but also continue to use the polishing tapes. At least for my expensive knives. cheaper ones ill just strop longer

From what i have seen. i will get the chosera stones when i need to replace my edge pro stones. but it looks like its a good idea to also use the edge pro polishing tapes after before stropping.

the Chosera stones are truly superb.

BUT after using the EP for a long time, I much prefer Shaptons.

Sadden, I didn't know that Mr. Schwartz sold stones directly. How does one contact him?

There is a site that sells a full kit with shapton glass stones, an angle cube and stop collar. That would be what i'd go with...
