im having a problem getting the edge from the belly to the tip to be at the same angle as the part that is relatively staight. Do any of you have any tips? Thanks !

You are supposed to keep the edge of the knife parallel with the back stop.
Kinda hard to explain.
I recommend watching the Edge Pro videos about a dozen times. Then read your instruction manual about a dozen more times.
Then practice with 4-5 cheap knives till you get the hang of it.

The edge cannot apply the same angle to the entire length of the blade. (if you don't move the knife while sharpening) The distance from the edge of the knife to the pivot changed for different for a given section of the blade. So the angle at the base of the edge =\= the angle at the tip. Having said that, Edge Pro does suggest moving the blade while sharpening to help compensate. I feel like this just causes a lot of unnecessary variation for a "precision" sharpener.
A bit of un asked for advice on sharpening the tip. Try not to rotate the stone around the guide rod. This just does odd things to the tip.
