Dunno what you paid for that 'system' but an ordinary axe file and a little bit of elbow grease has done wonders for 3-4 generations before this. Pictures of 'new-fangled' stuff are handy though. Nobody ever said that I was immune to progress but I would like to know (or at least see) what this is.

I am fairly new to axe sharpening, partially due to the fact that my little G-Bruks held an edge for so long. :) I have used an axe file on and off for a few years, moved to an axe puck and I weasel around by finishing on a Spyderco Sharpmaker. I get by with moderately sharp axes. But I need to invest in some good axe files and take this all a bit more seriously. It was the same thing with knives. I was rolling in anguish over how to decently sharpen a knife a few years back, then with practice and use it became old hat more or less......Practice makes better.

I did not know what an edge pro was, so I looked it up. Looks like a fine tool for knifes. I believe the cheeks will prevent a vintage axe to be used in one.

I have to make a real conscious effort to not put a grind that is close to 55-45 on a knife. They work well either way though. Sharp is sharp. And I have never noticed them trying to steer.
