After using a friend’s Edge Pro Apex I was all set to pull the trigger on one for myself. Then I saw the new BevelTech.

Just wondering how the BevelTech is worth the significantly higher cost. Not as much info after the initial release as I thought there would be.

It is a lot of money for how much extra benefit, if you liked using the original and it gave you good results, maybe just go with that.

When I bought an Edge Pro I splurged for the Pro model in 2000 and I just looked back and saw it was ~$280. The Beveltech looks to be a nice machine, but the price is kind of up there and brings a lot of other options into play. The Edge Pro Diamond matrix stones are great and made by a member here. They are a good company and stand behind their product if that is important to you. Sorry, I don't have specifics on the new machine to share. I kind of thought of getting a new one if all of the Pro accessories would work, but I don't think that is the case.

If you're considering this price range, do yourself a favor and look into Hapstone, Kazak and TSProf sharpening systems also. These are some of a few alternative systems with much better options and far better selections and available upgrades than Edge Pro.

Hapstone makes incredible products for very reasonable prices.

Kazak has recently relocated to the USA, in Idaho.

Gritomatic sells many systems, and they operate out of Georgia, USA.

Thanks. Giving the Hapstone option a much closer look, especially after reading your review on the RS.

Much appreciated.

They all fit both.

And you can still get parts for any sharpener they ever sold.
