No matter what size the blade I'm re-profiling is, if it has a slight curve it seems that the top of it, after the curve, always ends up being a different angle that the rest of the blade. I can see why this might happen in a larger blade, but it happens on swiss army knives, even knives under 2in.

What am I doing wrong?

Best analagy I know is a spinning coin settling on a table.
Lift your wrist and turn it a little as you get near the curve/point
to prevent flattening, see if that helps.

Get your felt tip out and you will see what is happening. Its all in the geometry.
When I work the tip, I usually have to raise the arm pivot half a notch to compensate
the hone angle that changes as one moves away left and right.
Hope I explained that all right.....

I do everything free hand but I watched the videos on the edge pro web site to get an idea of how this system works. Try the marker on the edge and let the stone flow with the blade. Its all about the angle

NO always stop at the tip, that's what I thought your problem was at first becaust that will create a larger flat spot and rounding of the tip.
