Edge pro question

Hello, I recently purchased a used edge pro, and I noticed that it has Bens signature along with APEX and 05-07 in gray sharpie on the underside. Is this standard? I assume the 05-07 is a date code, correct?
 
I bought mine new (so no one has had the chance to remove any marks like that) and mine has no marks like that of any kind. I can hardly even see where there is room to write that. Not a big deal but I would enjoy seeing a photo.

Sounds like you have sort of a collector's item.
I'll be using mine later to night.
 
I got one brand new around that time period and it didnt have any marks like yours. As stated above, it might be a collectors item or something special like that, but personally I can’t confirm. All I know is mine was bought new and didn’t have any marking like yours.

on a side note do you think it's worth anything extra as a collectors piece?
 
I don't know if the signature is worth money but my Apex got my Case Teardrop sharp (hair whittling) and it was a mess from the factory of different angles, extremely wide angle micro bevel and the edge was not centered on the main blade bevels so I'm happy.
Ha, ha I tried touching up the factory edge with a Spyderco Ultra Fine triangle rod and to get onto the actual edge of the micro bevel I started to feel like I was holding the ceramic rod at a ninety degree angle just to get any sharpening effect . . . so . . . I bussssed out the Edge Pro . . . baddaboom, baddabing and we have a great edge.

Yep, I love this thing. You can see the mirror edge I put on a trail master in the super polished edge thread. That was my 5th knife I did on it.

Have you purchased the drill stop collar for it yet? I used to be a EP user myself. You’d be surprised at how much better you edges will become, even the slightest changed in thickness of stone will make every grit after it all out of whack

Not yet, but I did take that into account and sharpied/ adjusted for every stone. It came out great, but yes I do want to get a stop collar. Happen to know what size I need?

As setldown has stated 5/16”, I got mine from chefknivestogo.

All the 'Pro' models were signed and dated... I think some of the Apex models were too for a while, but can't remember why.

Email Ben and ask him if you really want to know... he's usually quick to respond.
