Edge Pro question

I hope I'm in the right slot here. If not then I apologize but I have a question for you guys/gals who own an EDGE PRO Sharpening unit.

There is one type of blade that I just can't find a really comfortable method for sharpening. I just sharpened a friends knife which was a dagger type, double edged boot knife. The problem with that kind of knife is that there is no spine on it to affix a sharpening guide to. I have heard that the EDGE PRO accomodates more unusual blades than most sharpening units.

My question is: Does the EDGE PRO unit have a good method for sharpening double edged, fixed bladed knives over 4 inches long?

Also does the EDGE Pro have the versatility for you to use your own stones like the SKARB unit does? Or are the stones with the EDGE PRO proprietary stones that come with the unit?

I have no problems doing this with mine. There is a plastic cover for the spine rest when you are doing double edged knives, and painter's tape helps as well.

I don't know what the SKARB unit is. I have used different types of abrasive paper with my edge pro, and have just ordered a bunch of different stones to try on it. Size (1"x6"x1/8") seems to be the constraint. I have had good luck with strips of sic paper in different grits stuck on the blank used for tapes.

What about my Spyderco Captain model. If some of you aren't aware of the model it is one of Spyderco's most unusual and unique blade designs. It's really like 2 designs in one.

Can the Edge Pro take on a job like that?

I don't have a captain myself, but I don't see why it wouldn't be able to sharpen one looking at a picture of the captain. It took me months and months to convince myself to get an edgepro....once I had it I kicked myself for not getting one long before. It seems expensive for what it is, but you can't get anything like it anywhere else, and it is very well made.
