Edge Pro sharpener - using stones with no mount bevel

Can anyone who has used stones that don't have a mounting bevel in an Edge Pro (mine's an Apex, but I don't think the model matters) share how that worked out for them please?
Good? Bad? OK but some issues such as....?

The kind of stones I am talking about are those like the Venev "Centaurs" (pictured below) and other stones like that where the end of the stone is squared off instead of having a triangular mounting bevel like most stones sold for the Edge Pro system.

Thanks.

If you still screw the knob to hold the stone then it would work pretty well, but still not as well as if it had the dovetail. Do be careful not to smash the point on the forward stone holder, the one opposite the knob. They are not easily replaced if you bugger it up.

Make sure the resin is not proud of the aluminum mount at least on the knob end. You don't want to be loading the resin to hold the stone, it may delaminate from the aluminum mount. If it is just sand it flush.

As Diemaker says if secured properly they are fine. I have a set of Venev Centaurs and they work really well. Just take your time till you get the feel of how they sit in the holder. But one thing to be aware of is the angle marks on the Edge Pro will be out because of the thickness of the stones, so you will have to get a good digital angle gauge.
