edge pro stones clogging?

I find that after 10 strokes of my medium (220) stones they get really clogged and smooth and i have to constantly flatten them to get them to cut again. am i doing somthing wrong? or is this normal?

They might have been contaminated with oil.

Nope not normal. See if adding some dish soap to the water bottle helps.

I put 2-3 drops of dawn in my water bottle and it seems to do a good job.

I wonder if the stones were contaminated with oil, if dawn would work for that? If not, then I'm sure Ben will fix you up.

Something seems REALLY funny there. The stock 220 that I have is almost gritty, I don't even like it all that much because it feels like I've got a handful of sand between the stone and the edge. I can't imagine THAT stone getting clogged... I've never had one contaminated with oil before, and I do use three or four drops of Dawn in my spray bottle.

That is definitely not a normal thing, though! I'd be tempted to contact Ben and see what he says, he really knows his stuff.
