I am sure this has been asked many time before but I am going to ask it again. If you were looking at getting into sharpening knives for myself and others which system would you guys recommend? I have some experience sharpening knives but I am new to both of these systems. Thanks.

Main dif for me and why I walked away from the WE and gladly pounced on the EP Apex is that the EP can easily handle shallower edges and smaller knives like smallish pocket knives; though for very small pocket knives you need to make or buy a small knife adapter but it amounts to a card of masonite or aluminum with a hole in it.

The WE seems to do really stellar work on medium size knives (fixed and folders) though I have never used it. See a few YouTubes. Takes some serious mechanization for small or large knives.
Too . . . the potential for side to side flex while the blade is suspended out in unsupported space concerns me though the end results look good polished edge wise.

Then . . . pause to take a breath . . . there is the breath taking price of the WE . . . truth be told I easily have that much invested in just full size free hand stones but that is for my hand tool woodworking interests.

After a few years with the EP and some auxiliary stone purchases I am VERY happy with the Edge Pro Apex. However one needs to fully understand edges and grinds before getting serious with most any jig because factory edges are too inaccurately ground to just chuck 'er up and take some quick strokes for a perfect polished edge on a guided system.
