Will the Edge Pro make a knife any sharper than a sharpening stone would? Perhaps in the hands of a professional, a sharpening stone and the Edge Pro have the same potential, but keep in mind that I'm an idiot when it comes to sharpening. I thought that you had to sharpen the spine of the blade in order to get a smaller angle. Infact, I still think that, but some folks on these forums say never to do that. So with that said, is the Edge Pro better than getting a sharpening stone?

The edge pro will greatly decrease your learning curve. A professional can probably get a knife as sharp, but the edge pro will have you doing it in an hour or two. It was one of the best buys I have ever made. I still went and bought stones and use them, but the edge pro helped me learn what to look for in my freehand sharpening. The edge pro can make it easy and much faster until you get really good freehand.

You won't regret getting one.

Thanks for the response, but Im not sure which one to buy. On this page, there's many things that you can buy, I'm not sure which one to get. There's one that's $185, $480, $145 and $345.

And as for sharpening stones, I have been told that diamond stones are the best. Where can I get one (online)?

I would give the owner, Ben Dale, a call. He's a stand up guy, not high pressure at all. He really knows his stuff, and will give you better advice than I could.

I talked to Sierra at Edge Pro and she helped me a lot in selecting the model I wanted. I ended up with the Edge Pro Pro kit #3. Sure it was expensive but I am now able to sharpen knives AND scissors. I get a great case to carry all the accessories in and most of the optional water stones (the diamond fine and diamond ultrafine had to be purchased separately). Now I am able to sharpen all of my knives easily and efficiently.
