An Amazon vendor offers some quite large diamond files under the Temo name at quite reasonable prices. Available grits are 60, 120, 180 and 300. These are listed as 10" by 1" files with 8" of diamond grit surface on each side of the double sided file flats. The edges are diamond grit free. Price is under $15 per file + shipping.
Any thoughts about using a pair of these in 120 or 180 grit and mounting them on a V base to use like a diamond sticks sharpmaker, but with much more agressive grit, to use when edge reprofiling is needed? I am intending to try it. Remove the handles and make up a base with holes to hold the file tangs at the wanted angles to make a very agressive grit V type grinder/sharpener. I have all the tools to make such a V base to hold the files. May make it with holding holes at 30, 35 and 40 degrees included angles.
Tossing this out as an idea to be critiqued, criticized or encouraged as felt appropriate.
