Edge Thickness

Sorry if this is a common question, but I'm having trouble with the search function.

How thick would you leave the edge on a full flat ground utility knife (4.5'' long, 1'' wide, .125'' thick) before sharpening on the final edge?

I would recommend 0.0195" or 0.5 mm.

Flatgrinder sounds about right. I grind mine until I can see a hair-thickness reflection on the edge. On bigger, heavier knives, I will leave it a tad thicker and then convex from that point.
