Sorry if this is a duplicate thread but didn't see another one.

Can folks please recommend some online resources for quality handles for axes, hatches, hammers, etc.? Handles don't seem to get the love that heads do.

Would love to see pics and firsthand experience. Or post ones you made yourself!

Thanks

Catch up on axe forum member City of the South (COTS)'s handiwork (he has a thread dedicated to new hangs) and you'll get a taste of what can be done by mere mortals with hand tools these days.

You really think he's mortal?

I'm almost convinced that he's a god. His handle work is certainly heavenly.

Legendary he is.

Online there is House, Tennessee and maybe Link. But I haven't looked for awhile. I'm sure there are more.

I only have experience with house handles, and it was an iffy experience.
The wood was the most beautiful clear straight grained white hickory I've ever seen, but the handle was twisted and had the worst shape.
What I do is buy handles from the hardware store, the trick is to get the fattest one you can find so you have room to give it the shape you want.

I have no trouble finding good handles at the hardware store, the problem is that they only carry 36" handles which I never need.

You can try eBay for nice older NOS handles. Now that I think of it I have several that I should dig out.

in my quest for a 21" handle, I found a few places...Ace Hardware in the states (online too), House Handle, Beaver-tooth.com, amazon.com.

I didn't buy from any of those, I found one locally up here in Canada.
