Edge-u-cation Paper Missing? - New in Box...

I ordered a Salt 1 from amazon and upon opening the box realized that there was no edge-u-cation paper. This is only my second spyderco (first being the ffg endura), and my first one came with the paper.

Should I be concerned about possibly receiving a fake spyderco, or is it common that the edge-u-cation paper is sometimes not included?

Also some of the black paint on the barrel bolt for the clip was coming off (not from use, but out of the box). I realize that this paint is not very durable, but again want to make sure that this is a sign of receiving a fake salt 1.

My Persistence was also missing the paperwork and the box was taped on the ends. I thoroughly checked the knife and all seemed in excellent condition. I considered it a closed incident

My box missing the paper work was taped as well. Is the missing paint on the barrel bolt common?

Unless it is a recent change spyderco boxes don't come taped. Maybe it was a previously return?
 
Call amazon customer service, they will send you out a replacement immediately. No paint missing means yours was probably a return. Sorry sometimes luck of the draw. Amazon has outstanding customer service. Hey why aren't you on the phone now? Lol All kidding aside that would be my direction
 
Yea the tape, bit of chipped paint on barrel bolt, and missing edu paper probably point towards a return. Thing is there were no finger prints, and the knife seemed new...

I bought a total of 4 Spyderco knives from Amazon (sold by, not just fulfilled by) in two different occasions. All of them had these round, clear, adhesive tapes/dots taping the ends of the boxes. I assumed that Amazon put them on, but never verified that assumption.

I mostly bought PM2s, exclusives, and sprints. All of them had papers. The first time I got one without papers was with a DLC Military. I contacted Spyderco and they informed me that the particular SKU (I assumed all regular military's) did not come with papers.
 
The other things may indicate a returned knife, but the lack of an Edge-U-Cation sheet is probably not significant. Some Spyderco models come with one, generally the newest ones, custom collaborations, and variants using an interesting steel or scale material. On the other hand, the "regular production" versions of most models that have been in production for years do not come with them. Frankly, if I were to purchase a new Salt I, Pacific, Atlantic, or Saver Salt, I would not expect to find one.
 
I just bought a new Pacific Salt a few weeks ago and it did not come with an edge-u-cation paper. I don't remember any of my other salts having one either.
 
While we are adding Edge-U-cation paperwork to the models as we can, not all of them contain the paperwork. Amazon wants all of their boxes taped.
