What is the difference between a convex edge and a rolled edge? I have a CS Trailmaster in AUS-6 that has a beautiful rolled edge (that is what Lynn Thompson calls it). Is this the same as a convex edge? Got a new belt sander. Ready to play.

A convexed or rolled edge are one and the same. The term convex edge is simply less confusing to use as many equate a "rolled edge" with damage, in that the edge rolls over to one side of the blade.

I believe Fallkniven also advertised a mine clearing knife as having a rolled edge, in addition to Cold Steel.

Thanks. I thought they meant the same thing, but I wasn't sure. I am going to try to grind a "convex" edge on one of my machetes.

A very good idea.

Phry makes a good point in that "rolled edge" also refers to a thin edge bending sideways, so it's confusing to use it when a less ambiguous term exists.

A rolled (convex) edge on your machete should keep it from becoming a rolled edge. :D
