Hi, Anyone have one of these? They come in 3 grits course, medium and fine. I would like to use it to resharpen my knives and sometimes reprofile or mess with the hardened blade steel.

How do the diamond particles hold up do they last?

Thanks in advance.

I'm not framiliar with the brand you speak of.
But in general; they hold up very well, the "shop stones" see a lot of heavy use and are cuting very well after about 3 years. :D

I have some cheep hones also. they work good, but the back plate came off. (well you get what you pay for)

I think you are referring to the Eze-Laps, They usualy come stuck to a piece of wood with 4 rubber feet. Had 1 in 4"x1", they don't last. The diamond dust come off from the corners of the four edge of the hone. So now you can only use the middle.

The reason I ask about the Edgecraft is because Discountknives.com have them for less then $22. If you look at my location you will notice that I am overseas. They cannot be found in Malaysia. Recently made a purchase from Bayou, paid $120 in taxes.

Thanks for taking the time to help.

i lived in Penang many years ago.talk with local blacksmiths, jewelers, they should have some idea's on supplier's. in my opion the diamond stuff is a waste. it scraps off farily quickly in my exsperance. ceramic is much better. i would try to find the japanese ceramic rods. if spyderco sells their {sharp maker} it is the best ceramic system i have seen here in the U.S.A. welcome to the forums as well.

Man, missed the chance to talk to a real knifeman. Got meself the 204. Works as advertised. But. For back beveling, I got a Blademaster Diamond set by Frost( works like the Lanksy system). Know that they sell so-so stuffs, but I find that the Blademaster easy to set and use. After trying to back bevel my BM750 Pinnacle, gave up, even used the trick by Shmacky, using sandpaper wrapped around the rods.

Currently I am trying to make some blade from used wood planer blade. These stuff are hard. Thats why. Thanks for taking the time to answer my question.
