I received a edgepro for the holidays all ready had a sharp maker. The two make a good team together but there is a learning curve for both it took about 3 to 4 knives a piece I'm no master sharpener but my knives have came out okay. I miss beveled my endura 4 past 15 degrees but saved it with a mico bevel on the sharp maker, learning curve overly wide bevel but still extemly sharp. Can't wait to learn some more.

With the Sharpmaker, I've found I have the best results when I start barely behind the point (1-2 mm, or 1/8" or so) and push forward and down the rod to the base, not from the base of the blade (near the handle) and pull towards myself.

One, you can control the stroke better, and two, you will round off the sharp tip of the blade if you drag it off the rod while pulling it toward you.

A friend of mine does that, pulls it toward himself really quickly, off the rod, and none of his knives have the factory point any longer. Mine all do, and are consistently a bit sharper than his.

I've tried to convince him to change, but I guess it's a little more important to me than he. Just something to think about.

I love my sharp maker also learned the hard way about rounding the tip off, don't do that anymore.
