I emailed Ben Dale of EdgePro fame a while back, regarding the micron equivalents of the various stones/rods/tapes offered with the EdgePro system, and he offered the following:

120 grit is 116 microns
220 " " 66 " "
320 " " 36 " "
600 " " 16 " "
800 " " 13 " "
1200 " " 6.5 " " This is where the chart does not agree with real life
1000 " " 12 " " From the 1000 polish tape and onward, I know the micron equivalents are absolutely correct because I order the polish tapes in Microns
2000 " " 9 " "
3000 " " 3 " "
6000 " " 1 " "

Hope this helps

Ben

I (Frank) know that these numbers differ from some offered on this forum in the past, and I present them in the hope of arriving at the truth.

Thanks...................Frank

Well, I'd say the numbers seem a bit off of what I'm used to in japanese waterstone grits. The 800 stone seems to polish similar to a 4000+ stone, and is much much harder than my king 4000, maybe even harder than my shapton 1000 which I consider a very hard waterstone. The 320 stone seems to leave a finish similar to my shapton 1000, but doesn't seem to cut as fast, hard to tell as I tend to use much less pressure on the edgepro. I haven't tried out the polish tapes yet.
