Edgepro Apex inconsistencies

I am baffled by the inconsistent results I get from using the edge pro apex. I have 220 edge pro, 400 chosera, 400 grit edge pro and 1000 grit chosera. I cannot put an edge on Benchmade 154CM no matter what I do. I can make my protech tr-3 with 154CM razor sharp. I can make a friends ZT 0200 SCARY sharp and it has 154CM. On 154CM and S30V I have to apply more pressure and do more passes but I can get the sharp as hell, but no matter what I do I cannot sharpen a benchmade 9051 or a 580. Just using the 220 grit edgepro stone does absolutely nothing. Forget the other stones, i just cannot get a burr or anything. How hard should I push down? the AFO ii (9051) is brand new. I am using a 21 degree angle. I am not rolling the blade, it is firmly pressed down to the table on the flat spot near the spine of the blade. I am doing it like a dozen videos I have seen including Ben's from edge pro. All I have managed to do is remove the delicate black DLC coating on the thing. There is fresh painters tape on the table. I have gone through all the stone up to 1000 Chosera. The edge sure is pretty, mirror finish, and duller than a butter knife. I have done 440C, 14c28 Sandvik, Henkles and Wustorf HC steels, I can make the AUS 8 steel on my SOG razor sharp in about 5 minutes consistently.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated. I have followe tips from jdavis882, nutnfancy, dozens of them. Thanks
 
Are you hitting the edge? Put some marker down on the edge and make sure all come off. If at the 21 degree angle all the marker doesnt come off then youll need to grind for longer, or you can raise the angle until you hit the apex. Dont progress to the higher stones until you form an apex. It should get pretty sharp off the lower grit stones.
 
Light pressure more repetitions. More pressure and your defeating your efforts. It will come around just be patient. The BM 154CM steel can try ones patience.
 
Although this isn't advice... I do offer to put an edge on a knife or two if you cover shipping to me, it'd be done with a wicked edge up to 1000 grit and then stopped of course at whatever angle you want, just trying to get my name out somehow:)
