I am just wondering if any anyone on here has experience with either of these systems. If yall could present me with some benefits and drawbacks of each and maybe a recommendation i would really appreciate it. I have a Spyderco sharpmaker which maintains an edge very well but was looking for a more versatile system and am not great at freehanding...yet:rolleyes:. Thanks in advance for the input :D

I would say that the warthog seems to take less skill to use but you only have one grit option(325 grit). That is pretty low grit for me because I usually polish my bevels to 3000 grit and take it to the strop after that.

It looks to me like the warthog won't give me the ability to rebevel and polish bevels the way I want. But YMMV.

Just an FYI. You can get the warthog in 325, 600 and 1000. I've never used one so that's about the extent of my input.

I have the Edgepro Pro and wouldn't sell it for twice what it costs, well thats not true, I would sell it and buy another one and pocket the rest :D I'm sure the Apex is a fine machine as well.

I've had both. If you want something to leave on thecounter that the wife can use, get the Warthog. If you really like to sharpen knives and want to be able to control angles, get the EdgePro.
