Edit User Group??

I just purchased a Gold Membership but cannot for the life of me find how to manually update my status to reflect this. I read in the FAQ's to go into control panel and change my user group but I am not seeing a place to do this. I apologize in advance - I am sure this question has been asked and answered many times but I am just not seeing it. Thanks BladeForums...
 
It looks as though the payment hasn't gone through yet. Depending on how you paid sometimes your payment has to be manually changed by Spark the forum owner.
 
Oh ok, yes, I paid via PayPal and it did note that it could take some time. Will I see the link in my profile once it is activated by Spark?
 
Yes when the payment goes through you will see another user group to change to.

Just to be clear, this is how to locate the link in your profile (once it's present) from any Bladeforums page once you're logged in, and update your User Group:

Click settings on the upper right of your screen:

On the resulting page, look in the left sidebar, a little ways down, and click on "Permission Groups" under the "My Account" subheading:

On the Permissions Groups page, you should see a "group" that corresponds to whatever level(s) you paid for-- in your case, Gold. Select the appropriate button, the click "Update Display Group."

Thanks man - yeah, as of now there isnt even a "permission groups" link but I am assuming that will show up with when my payment updates. I paid via PayPal yesterday evening so hopefully it updates soon - I believe it said it could take as much as 72 hours. Thanks again for the step by step!

Just so you know, even though the payment text says "up to 72 hours," account matters that require direct attention (vs. those that are automated) can take about a month before they're taken care of. Or at least, that's been the norm, even pre-dating the cyber attacks on the site. This includes PayPal account transactions, requests for name changes, pro-rations, gift memberships, etc. For example, DagaOculta has been waiting since March 1st to see his name change go through, Aldomendoza80 since March 31st, etc. There are a few more out there, but those look to be the older remaining requests at this time.

(Meanwhile, SteelSlaver's name change went through soon after his 4/20 payment and request (though his was by credit card). One just never knows!)

The point being, don't become attached to (or hopeful because of) the 72-hour thing. It almost never holds, and when it does it seems more a matter of coincidence than intent.

In the meantime, there's no evidence that PMs or emails to Spark are any more effective than continually bumping your respective thread, so... try to keep this one on top of the first page. Hopefully, he'll get to it soon. :)

Hi all - I just wanted to check in on how to update to Gold Status. I paid almost a week ago and I am still not seeing the option to update. I have heard it can take longer than the 72 hours it says but I just want to make sure nothing is wrong. Thanks in advance.
 
As discussed; you have to be manually activated by the forum owner, and he usually only takes care of those during normal business hours. (Monday-Friday).

Patience.
