I got this knife from Charlie just after the new year and have been anxious to get out and give it a bit of attention and finally had my chance yesterday.

Here are the first set of pics. A write-up will be coming later today here.

More to come...

Thanks,

B

Did i miss something? I saw the knife from back to all sides but never saw this knife chopping!

I don´t like those videos. Action please!

LOL!

You're welcome to come out and hold the camera for me while I'm chopping.

I had no tripod for the video or stills so you're not seeing any action because one hand was holding the knife and the other was holding the wood.

If I tried to shoot pics of my chopping without watching where the knife was going I might be telling you this morning how I've got something less than 10 fingers or toes...

I spent some time this past week taking the shoulders and edge down a bit thinner.

All of my sharpening equipment has been moved into the garage to make room to finish the basement so I didn't have much more than a Fallkniven DC4 and some sandpaper to work the edge.

Yesterday I took it out to check how the edge was coming along after hitting Home Depot for some supplies and I think I'm moving in the right direction.

It's sporting a nice convex edge now and I took it to 320-grit followed by stropping lightly on a piece of wood-backed leather loaded with black compound.

The idea was to sharpen roughly, test, resharpen if needed, and then sharpen fully (i.e. 320, 600, 1000, 1500, 2000, strop) once I had the edge I really wanted.

I planned on shooting some video to show how deeply it now chops but dropped my camera on a hike yesterday and will now be looking for a new one...

I don't think the new edge is a dramatic change but now it's more the geometry I'll be able to maintain over time using my existing movements.

One whack from each direction:

I also needed a refresher on my technique but this knife draw cuts like a champ. I took down some 2" saplings with one swing once I remembered how to do it.
