howdy! the title says it all -- any information you all can pass along about boker's solingen-made, currently produced traditional knives would be greatly appreciated!

Böker Germany? Underrated and very desirable. Here's their Whittler. They do a decent Small Stockman, Large Stockman, Copperhead, Penknife, Congress, and Lockback. Nice carbon blades, wood, bone or stag.

I have a beer barrel stockman and it's a really good knife and a great value. Just remember if the tang stamp says "Solingen" it's 100% made in Germany.

right, check the tang stamps carefully. Solingen is what you want to look for, especially the older ones. However I did buy a few recently, single blade trappers and 2 of these said solingen.

Great knives! I especially like their beer barrel series- carbon steel blades and nice finish for around $50!!

Videorecipes, in addition to the good info you're getting here, I recommend a concerted browse through Stich2442's Boker thread. Pete provides great historical context, and solicits (and clarifies) a number of questions regarding the brand.

:)

There have been a number of 'hybrid' knives marked "Boker" in recent years, trading on the name and Tree while not of the same quality (nor visual appeal, to me). There is room for caution, or at least being aware of exactly what one is buying.

I like the older Boker knives, and the current ones passing muster, very much!

thanks for all the responses, everyone! i've had my eye on a couple of bokers and now feel much better about pulling the trigger on them when i have the funds to do so! not sure my wife would be as grateful haha but i certainly am!

Definitely one of the best values among new production traditionals. I have a Congress Carver, and once I got the edges thinned out on it, it is FRIGHTENINGLY SHARP. You can cut yourself just looking at it.

Here's the Böker Copperhead with Clip/Drop-Point blades on top of a Schatt& Morgan box. It has nice thick bone slabs similar to some of GEC's Claw Bone. Can't remember what it's called, maybe Grand Canyon Bone ? (wish P.Bucket wasn't playing up so much, takes ages to get images lately)
