Hey guys, I just bought my first SHSHII, and I'm wondering if you can tell me about the SHSHII in general, and about this knife. What I know is it's a round pommel with partially grooved canvas Micarta and slotted screw fasteners. Stock factory new/unused condition. Sheath is a Kydex drop leg rig that I think is original from Busse. It is also in new condition. Some of my specific questions are below, as well as a pic of the knife. Thanks!

Is there anything special about the handle?
When was it made?
Do folks prefer the INFI or the A2 on these?
Do the slotted vs smooth bolts say anything about the knife such as vintage?
How many were made with uncoated/polished spine?
And anything else you can think of.

Thanks!

Yeah...listen to this guy....just give me a heads up first:D

Hell..may even be a HOGFSH in it for you;)

Really...all personal preference.

Some like the A2..Some like the Infi...as far as numbers.....it is a guessing game.

Your looks like a mid/late run ....the first SHSHIIs had the smooth bolts/smooth slabs. then slotted bolts smooth slabs.....then around your vintage...

It is a great older piece.

IIRC, that's the vintage that's a 50/50 shot of being INFI. I've got one. It is/was my best INFI knife.

Why?

It's the first time I ever took a "collector" knife and beat on it day 1. I took it out back immediately and tried to toss it into a chunk of wood. :) Epic Fail on my part but the SHSHII held up JUST fine. It's the reason I haven't gotten a NMSFNO yet. (Duplication.)

The handles say INFI to me. One of my SHSH in INFI has the same rounded scales with grooves in the center. Is the spine bead blasted? I have one polished and one BB'd so I guess its a toss up. Coated spines were on and off as well.

Either way it looks minty! Very nice!

As far as desirability goes, The SHSH family is high on the list of many a Hog no matter A2 or INFI.

Dont think I've ever seen production numbers on much of anything.

Smooth bolts are older than the slotted ones and usually indicate that the knife is A2. Unless its a SH1 and then its ATS34.

hope this helps a little.
