Educate my why I should choose Tonto over Spear Point

If you have the dosh for a 6, me educating you shouldn't even be in the equation.

The CQC-6 is only offered in a tanto configuration. A-bladed CQC-6/Vipers exist in full dress versions, but very hard to find

I would not choose Tonto as I do not think a Indian from a fictional story would help you much, a Tanto though might be another option. It really can be personal preference. I like both and both can be aesthetically pleasing. The spear point will always be great for penetration due to its nature in design having the point in the middle, the Tanto is good at piercing as well and can have better use overall as usually the spear point is not as broad of a blade usually. Which do you prefer and what are your intentions for the knife.

One of my favorite techniques when using a tanto is to use the "second" point for push and pull cutting. And of course the badazzness.

I find your reply not helpful at all, and I might even consider it rude, but from your Avatar I will assume I have many years in this World before you mom popped you out. Thus I understand your problem could be a generational problem.

If everyone was as smart as you perceive yourself to be, we would not need the internet, or forums to exchange information, and ideas. As we would all know everything about everything. Thus no need to ask any question, share any information, or ideas.

I have a saying that I coined myself that I thing might explain me, and who I am.

If I know something, you do not know. That might be helpful to you, and I do not share the information with you. I am selfish.

This is how I live my life most of the time. Yes there are people that have pissed me off, done me wrong, or just dirty bags.

I personally find not worth of any help from me, but they IMHO are people society IMHO would be better off without.

JMHO

BTW I ask my question because I did not know the answer to my question.

Also there is a saying about there are NO Stupid Questions, just Stupid Mistakes that could have been avoided with a Question.

Spear point will be much more utilitarian while still having good penetration capabilities while the tanto will have slightly better penetration capabilities but be much less utilitarian... what are you going to use it for.....???? Opening boxes or killing bad guys.....?????

There actually ARE stupid questions,,,,,, however yours does not stand among them.......... kudos on bully handling by the way........... spear point is more usefull.... tantos seem to get more complinents,, however I prefer the look of a nicely ground spear point....... theyre both sexy and will draw attention......

Well I have decided on Spear Point, and am going to a Gun Show this weekend. There is a knife dealer with a large selection of Emerson's at the show normally.

I will look at the two models I am most interest in. Than make my final decision, after touching, feeling, and looking hard.

I am not going to start a Emerson collection, just want one for everyday carry, as in this World we live in S*** does happen.

My saying about Stupid question come from volunteering for many years at a local shooting range. As I never said to someone who asked any question, that is a stupid question, as many of those questions, prevented accident, or serious injuries.

I think the point being made is that the six is a pricey option, above the heads of many "newbies". I didn't take that response the way the OP did, it was a veiled compliment IMHO.

If the dealer has a selection of Emersons I would suggest holding all the models you can. It's very possible to go there set on a 7 and then hold an 8 or 10 and it just feels correct. Nothing wrong with whichever you choose as that's part of the fun. Good luck and pics when you get it.

That's how I read it as well.

Exactly my impression as well. He was saying that if the op is looking for a 6 then his knowledge and taste run higher than average.

Eta: But then again the Lone Ranger had Tonto as a sidekick.

Take a chill pill. I wasn't bullying you or being a smart ass. As everyone else said, my post was a veiled compliment.

The 6 is a highly coveted knife and I would love to have one but frankly it's out of my price range.

If you have the money for a 6, what I have to say will probably will not change your mind because I'm sure you'll have already made up your mind.

I like spear points myself. I find the spear point easier to sharpen, prefer it aesthetically and don't do much stabbing so penetration isn't so much a concern. Then again I have a friend who swears by tantos and only rocks them.

Aren't tantos a bit harder to sharpen? And also more likely to attract unwelcome attention from cops or prosecutors. I know about the whole "rather be tried by 12 than carried by 6" argument, but in the unlikely, and extremely unwelcome, event that the SHTF, a spear point probably wouldn't lose any functionality but would be easier to portray as a tool in court, rather than a weapon.

A stock CQC6 would be the bom.
Tantos are not harder to sharpen.
Both the tanto and the spear point stab very well.
