Since the slowdown in the market have had to get a "Real Job" ;) to make ends meet. Well long story short I wind up working with a Dyed in the Wool Lib...
Mind you I know there are many liberals who are into knives and are very Welcome in my camp!
First hint was when I was talking about going to the range for some Practical Pistol practice. Gave me the Look and follows it by "People should not be allowed to own High powered weapons!" Well that started it for that day...
Continues into the debate of self defense Etc and how He has never been a victim and has never feared for his safety.
Never one to back down a Few weeks later I show him my website and say this is what I do for my hobbie/living. Not impressed we go into the debate about the use of such "Dangerous Weapons". My counter is that I have never seen a Knife (Or gun for that matter) jump off a shelf and hurt someone.
He says "Well it's the "Intended Purpose" that he objects to". Which I counter with 95% of all Fatal encounters with a Blade are done with a Kitchen knife, or some cheap arse $1 store blade NOT a $200 -$300 custom. Normally a Custom Knife that gets used is for hunting or in a Legit Combat situation.
Yesterday I was explaining the Artistry involved in many Custom Knives and how many are special purpose designed. Go my buddies Todd Kopp website and show him some of Todd's work... His jaw drops and he goes on and on about how it really is an art.
Today "Victory" he is asking if I can make him a Slip Joint for his father and that he would buy one like that...
After I make it and gift it to him for his Dad the conversion will be complete:D

reminds me of the guy whose neighbor was the same way.

Haha...I need to get a sign like that! Wait, no I don't. I live in West Texas, and we kicked most of the crazies out a long time ago :D. Though you occasionally meet a "sophisticated" college age dope who's been brainwashed by radically liberal poli-sci professors .

Good story. That is exactly what needs to be done...open their eye's. Unfortunately most of the IGNORANCE about firearms and knives is due to a lack of knowledge on the subject.

Great work! I'd like to see more folk with ability and interest in education.

My boss at work the other day saw a sheet in my day planner with some knife drawings in it and stopped me to ask "Whoah, what's that all about?"

So I told him, and he was cool with it; I was a little surprised that he was concerned. My response would have been "Cool! What's that?"

I agree about education. When my wife was ill, a friend of hers who was a nurse, well educated and intellegent and I were painting the living-room to make it nicer for the wife. She made a comment about my anti-Hillary bumber sticker. One thing let to another and she made the comment about no one needing a "assault" weapon. I said the 2nd amendment isn't about shooting ducks and informed her of the real statistics. One being that the common kitchen knife is used in way more murders. The fact that legally possessed full automatic weapons have not been used in crimes. That history proves that weapons control does nothing to improve the safety of the ordinary citizen. Plus the big question of why does anyone think that someone bent on murder would care about gun laws. Also that I had a gun that would easily fit under the term assault weapon. She got my points and I believe she saw the light as to the futility of gun restriction and its injustice to the everyday person. In pure theory gun restriction would lower crime. In REALITY it does just the opposite as I pointed out with the facts from some of the places that have gone to strict gun control. Murder, assault, and robbery are the results of social conditions and not the result of weapons availability. I could go on and on, but, I think in this forum I would be preaching to the choir.

we had a close friend who was against guns and thought they should be banned , UNTIL , her home was broken into while she was upstairs . She bought a gun that day and started to learn how to use it .
