Well, I had the unique opportunity to handle my first-ever knife the other day. I made this thing in 1995. It was the second damascus billet I ever did (52100 and 1095.)

A nice collection of Noob mistakes, but the steel was OK and the edge geometry was actually pretty good. Pretty cobby overall, but still fun to look at the old stuff when you get a chance. :)

I still have my first knife and it sure is funny how it has "changed" as I learn more. I was so incredibly happy with it when it was first finished and now when I look at it I just think how the shape isn't right, the geometry is all wrong, the guard fit is horrid, etc, etc, etc. I'd still never trade it for the world though. :D

That one sure does look a lot better than mine Joe. Still something to be very proud of IMHO.

Your first knife is better than any I've made. Hehe.

Maybe he accidentally posted the wrong pics?!? That doesn't look like a noob knife to me! :)

Heres my first sole authorship from a few years back...a bit ugly and alot more flowing and artsy than I currently do.

Man that's sure better than my first knife! :D I hope you're as proud of that as you should be. And you're lucky to still have access to it. Mine was stolen, I keep looking for it at local gun shows and flea markets, even 17 years later...
