A while back I was recommending Eezox gun care protectant for khukuris. I have to turn 180 on this now. It may work well for gun finishes, but the mirror finish of the khukuris are not protected fully by it. I just had to go over half a dozen khuks with Simichrome (like Flitz) to polish out the patinas on the finishes.
Now I'm sticking with Rennaissance Wax. (paste car wax works just as well, btw).

but I've taken some cross-country ski wax (wet snow) and applied it to one of the AKs. Don't know how long it will stay, since I use the khuks fairly often, and hunting season IS coming up, so the blades will get more use. The dry snow waxes may be...hmmm? softer? harder? dunno.

But the theory seems sound: hard wax, made for resistance to friction and moisture, and back when I bought it, inexpensive...$1.50 or so, if I remember correctly.

If it stays on long enough, I'll report back.

I have been using a product from A. G. Russell caled Rust Free for a few years with good results. I had it on a little Bruckmann pocket knife that ended up lost in the washing machine for a few loads and it came out of it needing only a little cleaning.

If women really knew how to get and keep their man, there'd be a lot less Chanel No. 22 or No. 5 or White Shoulders, etc., sold and a whole lot more Hoppe's dabbed behind the ears...

Of course I guess that depends on the man, but I suspect most of this bunch would follow the scent of Hoppe's automatically, with reflexes you wouldn't suspect they had left in them, to look at the old coots.

Humm... This stuff doesn't really smell like anything. Must be the environmentally friendly version. :grumpy:
