OK, I'm a moron. Getting ready for a short camping trip next week... all my gear is a little musty from being in my previous house's basement almost a year. I don't want my clothes to smell like cat-pee and mildew, so I washed my backpack and canteen covers along with everything else.

Problem is, I forgot to take the bottles of Potable-Aqua tabs/neutralizer out of the pocket on the 2-qt canteen cover. Both bottles "were" new and unopened, but one had the top/seal come off; the cottony stuff was intact. Did the moisture/heat from the washer and dryer ruin them? Is a year too long to store them, regardless?

I mainly ask to remind others to empty ALL the pockets if you need to wash your stuff.

I am not sure they are ruined or not, but I would get new ones if that happened, just to be sure. Better safe then sorry

Yeah, I agree. As I said, I mainly posted this as a reminder not to be dumb like me. I had to ask, though :)

It's no biggie, I have other ways to purify water and this isn't a hard-core survival trip. I'm just mad at myself for wasting good gear.
