I was just wondering if anyone's tried this. I thought I would try this with some other 'break in' trials for my #5(you never know when you might have to cut some ice

and was curious if anyone (Cliff) knows what effect chopping ice could have on a blade.

I've dulled up many an edge by ice cutting and chopping, but I wouldn't fear it much with a Busse Combat Knife...

Using the spine or butt of the knife is also suggested for preserving a cutting edge.

I have done it with many blades usually for ice fishing, it is not overly stressful. Consider that it is really just frozen water and you can readily chew it up.
