Efficient way to chop wood

Figures I wouldn't see that until after I left the mountains for the city. Even so, I often split a log five ways with just one shot. Even still, just for the ease of carry, dangit that's so simple and perfect!

I like the efficiencies in using the chains - good stuff. The part I didn't really care for was the stance and apparent hurry as he proceeded around the piece. It looked like tons of opportunity to slip and have the head go into his shin. Love the idea of using the chains - just probably favor a more deliberate and controlled process rather than focusing on how fast it can be done.

That's how we do it here in good ol' germany :D

No, kidding, great idea. I plan to fell and process a big pine tree (about 1ft in diameter, 30-40ft high) this fall only with hand tools, so this might be the way to go when I'm splitting the dried logs next spring.
