I saw this knife in Knifecenter's new arrivals. It looks like a great idea with the plain edge and the saw. I was wondering about the company, is it US?
Also, they describe the blade steel as "440 stainless", and I ask which "440"?
Is anyone familiuar with company, are they quality? At $99.- bucks they are not el cheepo.

If "440" is used generically, it inevitably refers to "440A" which is the least expensive of the 440 series steels. It has a lower carbon content than either 440B or 440C. It delivers greater corrosion resistance, but has lesser potential for edge holding.

I have never had an Eickhorn, but I noticed the knife as well, looks like a nice design, but like many European manufacturer's, their pricing is often inconsistent with the US market. I would much rather purchase a Myerchin rigging knife in this category - either the FRN models, or the traditional stainless and micarta models - both of which are less expensive than the Eickhorn models.
